Police authorities in Ogun State, have killed a 32-year-old man identified as David Shodola, for beheading an 84-year-old octogenarian, elder Alfred Opadipe, in Ipara community, Remo North Local Government Area of Ogun State on Friday.
The unfortunate incident was confirmed in a statement by the command spokesman, Omotola Odutola.
She said on Friday, the police received a distress call from an unnamed informant about a machete wielding man who is said to have gone berserk.
According to Omotola, police officers led by the Isara Divisional Police Officer (DPO), CSP Bankole Eluyeru, immediately stormed the scene of the incident.
She said an attempt to arrest the 32 year old suspected to be mentally sick was vehemently resisted as he used the machete to attack the Divisional Police Officer and his men.
Omotola however, added that the team after several efforts to effect his arrest fail and considering the security risk he poses to the general public, succeeded in neutralizing him and the weapon recovered.
