JUST IN: Ondo Assembly begins move to impeach deputy gov, Aiyedatiwa

Governor Akeredolu Rotimi of Ondo State might have drawn the battle line against his deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa as the Ondo House of Assembly on Wednesday, reportedly commenced impeachment processes against him.

It was alleged that Aiyedatiwa while he was the acting governor, following the medical vacation of the Akeredolu, reportedly approved N300 million for the purchase of a bulletproof SUV for his personal use.

Aiyedatiwa according to Vanguard, was alleged to have ordered the N300 million to be sourced from the Palliative fund, which was from the Federal government to the state in order to cushion the effect of the removal of fuel subsidy.

Rumours of the underground plot to impeach the deputy governor were rife after the sack of his aides by the governor.

Meanwhile, there was an emergency plenary session summoned by the House of Assembly on Wednesday, coupled with the unusually heavy presence of security operatives noticed at the gate of the Assembly.

According to a report, at least 23 members of the assembly have already appended their signatures, supporting the impeachment notice against the deputy governor, Aiyedatiwa.
