Cultists Butcher Man, Dump Corpse At Father’s Compound

Renewed confraternity clashes in Uyo, Southern Nigeria, has sparked fear and grief in Eniong Offot and Anua villages.

On Saturday night, suspected cultists brutally killed Peter Ekpeowo, an indigene of Anua, and dumped his lifeless body at his father’s compound on Sunday morning.

The deceased, who had been called to a drinking joint by an ally, was butchered by the suspected cultists, who then took his corpse and dumped it at his father’s compound.

The gruesome discovery drew a large crowd, and police patrols arrived at the scene to disperse the onlookers.

The killing is believed to be a result of a clash between rival cult groups, with eyewitnesses reporting sporadic shooting and desertion of streets and closure of shops by owners in fear of reprisal attacks.

The Akwa Ibom Police Command has confirmed the incident and is working to arrest the suspects. The command’s Relations Officer, ASP Timfon John, stated that the police are “on top of the matter” and are doing everything possible to ensure the arrest of the suspects.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, with residents calling for increased security measures to address the rising cult activity in the area.
