The State and National Assembly Court of Appeal sitting in Lagos has affirmed the election of Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu as the governor of Lagos State.
The court dismissed the appeals filed by the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olajide Adediran (Jandor), challenging the victory of Mr. Sanwo-Olu, the incumbent governor, at March 18 governorship election held in the state.
The three-man panel unanimously affirmed the decision of the Lagos State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal which had affirmed Sanwo-Olu’s victory on September 25, 2023.
The judges held that the petitioners failed to prove the allegations of forgery and non-qualification against Sanwo-Olu and his deputy Dr. Obafemi Hamzat.
“The appellants came empty-handed and left empty-handed. They merely enjoyed their day in court. Their petition is dismissed,” the judges said.
