The federal government of Nigeria has released details of 69 inmates who escaped from the Suleja Medium Security Custodial Centre in Niger State.

The 69 fleeing inmates were among 119 inmates of the correctional facility who reportedly escaped from the facility on the night of Wednesday April 24, 2024.

The Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS) has, however, issued a statement through its spokesman, Abubakar Umar, detailing this latest development.

The NCoS decision to release this information was made in collaboration with security agencies to encourage vigilance from the public.

Umar stressed the importance of public cooperation in locating and returning the escapees, who are considered a threat to public safety and national security.

He also highlighted that the NCoS has implemented both visible and covert measures to capture the fugitives and enhance security across custodial facilities nationwide.

Anyone with information on the escapees is urged to contact the nearest security agency
