Nobody can intimidate me to resign as PDP chairman — Damagum

Mr Umar Damagum, the acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said he will not be intimidated into resigning from his position.

While speaking during the inauguration of the National Reconciliation and Disciplinary Committees, Damagum reacted to calls for his resignation, noting that such actions only serve to enhance his popularity.

“Let me send a message to everyone talking about Damagum this, Damagum that – I cannot be intimidated. The more you mention me, the more popular I become,” he declared.

Though, Mr Damagum’s remarks come in the wake of reports suggesting that the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) might take action against him and National Secretary Samuel Anyanwu over a controversial letter sent to the Court of Appeal in Port Harcourt, which was perceived as anti-party activity.

Some party leaders, including members of the National Executive Committee (NEC), have reportedly advocated for sanctions against both Damagum and Anyanwu.
