Bauchi varsity student found dead in bathroom

Naja’atu Salisu, a 300-level Computer Science student at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi State, has, on Friday, July 26, 2024, been confirmed dead.

The Bauchi student went to bathe in the female hostel at Gubi Campus, but unfortunately, she didn’t make it out alive.

“She had done every routine in preparation for the morning class before going into the bathroom.

“She brought wears that she planned to wear to the class and kept them on the side of her bed”, Naja’atu’s roommate said.

ATBU Spokesperson Zailani Bappa confirmed the incident and reported that the university swiftly transported her to the clinic for urgent medical care.

Unfortunately, despite the efforts of medical personnel, they were unable to locate a vein for necessary treatment.

“Having noticed this, Naja’atu was rushed to the Trauma Centre of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital.

“Where she was certified dead by a medical doctor,” he noted.

Bappa noted that the university buried the deceased Bauchi student according to Islamic rites.

The ATBU Students Union Government (SUG) issued a condolence message.

Secretary of the Union, Comrade Danladi Zakiru, signed the message, mourning the loss of the deceased.

The message highlighted that the entire university community will profoundly miss the student, known for her diligence.

It is named after Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, Nigeria’s first and only Prime Minister.

The committee later renamed it Abubakar Tafawa Balewa College, Ahmadu Bello University, Bauchi campus.

It regained its autonomous status in 1988 and became Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi.

Gubi Campus:

Located along the Bauchi/Kano Road in Gubi, Bauchi State.

This campus hosts the Faculty of Agriculture and Agricultural Technology (FAAT) and the Faculty of Education (FOE).

Yelwa Campus:

Situated along the Bauchi/Dass Road in Yelwa, Bauchi State.

ATBU offers a range of degree programs, postgraduate programs, and other specialized programs like, IJMB, Remedial, Diploma, and Higher Diploma.

It aims to prepare students for success in the 21st century by fostering critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills
