One alleged kidnapper was killed, while another was arrested by police during the rescue of Mr. Emmanuel Yaji, President General of Kunav Development Association (KUDA).

This operation took place on Tuesday, according to SP Sewuese Anene, the spokesperson for the Benue Police Command.

She confirmed Yaji’s safe recovery after being abducted in the Vandeikya Local Government Area (LGA) on Monday.

The police team, acting on intelligence, located the kidnappers at Nambe Adikpo town within Kwande LGA.

Subsequently, they engaged the suspects in a fierce gun duel, which resulted in injuries to one of the suspects.

Tragically, this individual was later confirmed dead by a medical professional.

While one suspect was arrested, two others managed to escape during the confrontation.

A thorough investigation is currently underway, focusing on apprehending those still at large.

The police recovered crucial evidence, including an AK-47 rifle, loaded with twelve live rounds of ammunition and three additional magazines.

Such efforts demonstrate the police’s commitment to combating kidnapping in the region.

She stated that the victim was rescued without injuries and has now been reunited with friends and family.
