Attack on Anambra security op-s: police boss visits scene, orders manhunt of assailant

The Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, has launched an immediate manhunt for the assailants responsible for the attack on security operatives and unarmed civilians in Ihiala on December 30, 2024, at 11:20 am. The attack tragically resulted in the loss of seven lives, including two innocent passersby.

A joint security team managed to rescue one victim, who is currently receiving treatment in a hospital. CP Itam visited the scene to conduct an on-the-spot assessment, during which he interviewed eyewitnesses.

According to reports, the armed men opened fire at a venue preparing for a burial ceremony scheduled for January 2, 2025. As they escaped, they also shot at two security operatives near the Local Government Headquarters

CP Itam extended his condolences to the families and friends of the victims, particularly the people of Ihiala, and assured that the perpetrators would be brought to justice.
