The United States men’s soccer team suffered a humiliating 4-0 defeat at the hands of Morocco in the quarterfinals of the Olympic soccer tournament on Friday, August 2, 2024, at the Parc des Princes in Paris, France.

The loss marks the end of their Olympic journey and denies them a chance to compete for a medal at the Paris Games.

Morocco, fueled by fervent support from the crowd, dominated the match from start to finish, showcasing their skill and prowess.

Soufiane Rahimi opened the scoring with a penalty in the 29th minute, followed by goals from Ilias Akhomach, Achraf Hakimi, and Mehdi Maouhoub, which sealed the victory for the Moroccan team.

The US team, which had qualified for the quarterfinals for the first time since Sydney 2000, was outclassed by a polished Morocco team that had already beaten Argentina in the group stage.

Despite a few chances, the Americans were unable to find the back of the net, and their hopes of a medal were dashed.

Morocco will now face the winner of Japan vs. Spain in the semifinals in Marseille on Monday, while the US team will head home, disappointed and defeated.

The loss marks a disappointing end to their Olympic campaign, and they will need to regroup and reassess their strategy for future competitions.
