Bobbi Althoff has clarified her religious background after her casting in The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives: Orange County sparked questions about whether she is a member of the Mormon Church.
The 29-year-old podcaster, who is part of the upcoming Hulu spinoff, addressed the issue ahead of the show’s November 12 premiere, explaining that she does not identify as Mormon despite having some childhood exposure to the faith.
“I am not Mormon, but I do have a Mormon brother,” Althoff said in an Instagram Story posted on September 29. “And I grew up going to Mormon church, like, twice.”
Althoff has previously described her family as Christian while reflecting on the role religion played during her childhood.
During a 2024 appearance on Rainn Wilson’s Soul Boom podcast, she said her family considered themselves Christian and reflected on how her parents introduced her to religion.
Althoff also revealed that she became less religious during her four-year marriage to her former husband, Cory Althoff, with whom she shares two daughters, Luca and Isla.
According to the podcaster, religion was not a major part of their household during the marriage because her former husband did not share the same religious beliefs.
However, after the couple divorced in 2024, Althoff said she began reconnecting with religion.
“Divorce is a very sad thing. I had to find something, so I started going to church again,” she previously explained, adding that she believes in “something bigger than me that can hear my thoughts and make me feel better about things.”
Althoff is not the only member of the Mormon Wives: Orange County cast whose relationship with the Mormon faith differs from what the show’s title might suggest.
Castmate Avery Woods previously described herself as being “the opposite of Mormon,” while Aspyn Ovard has said she was baptized and raised in a “Mormon-adjacent” community in Utah but does not identify as Mormon.
The upcoming Orange County spinoff is scheduled to premiere on Hulu on November 12 and will expand the reality franchise beyond its original Utah-based cast.
For Althoff, her clarification appears to address the distinction between her personal religious background and her participation in a series built around women connected in different ways to Mormon culture.
Her appearance on the show is also expected to introduce viewers to another side of the internet personality, who became widely known for her distinctive deadpan interview style and podcasting career.
