Hillary Clinton Wins big in Louisiana, Donald Trump also
*Ted Cruz wins Kansas and Maine caucuses
Hillary Clinton won a sizable victory in the Louisiana Democratic primary on Saturday, taking back some of the headlines after her rival Bernie Sanders had posted two victories earlier in the evening.
The Louisiana win was her first victory of the day.
Earlier, Bernie Sanders had won in Nebraska and Kansas.
With 9% of precincts reporting, Clinton had garnered more than 70% of the vote.
On Sunday, Democratic caucuses will be held in Maine.
Sanders is favored to win in that state, as it is similar to New Hampshire and the senator’s home state of Vermont, both of which he won.
After that, the next big contest comes on Tuesday in Michigan. The candidates will debate on Sunday night in that state.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump posted his first win on Saturday in Louisiana.
Trump
Ted Cruz had won two contests on Saturday, slowing down Trump’s momentum.
Donald Trump will win the Republican primary race in Louisiana, according to projections from the Associated Press.
This was the first win of the day for the New York businessman; rival Ted Cruz won caucuses in Kansas and Maine earlier in the evening.
The results of the contest in Kentucky, which was also held on Saturday, are still too close to call.
It was a closed primary, meaning that only registered Republicans could vote.
Some of Trump’s previous wins had come in open primaries, where independents or even Democrats could cross party lines to vote.
The next big contest for the GOP will take place in Michigan on Tuesday. The latest polls suggest that the race in that state will come down to Trump and Ohio Gov. John Kasich.
