…bought and sold 1700 delegates names.

The Anambra state Chapter chairman of the All Progressives Congress(APC), Emeka Ibe was at the weekend attacked by members of his party over allegation that he unilaterally mutilated the governorship primaries delegate list.

The members drawn from parts of the state led by Ibe’s Orumba South Council Ward accused him of removing names of bonafide statutory delegates numbering about One thousand Seven hundred (1700)names and substituting same with strange names.

Ozoemena Unegbu, chairman of the party in Orumba South Council disclosed that “Ibe replaced at least five names from each of the 326 electoral wards in the state, with members of the People’s Democratic Party(PDP) in favour of Andy Uba who he has collected huge amount of money from”.

They also accused him of collecting monies above fifty million Naira(N50m), a furnished mansion in Asokoro area of Abuja as well as a brand new Prado SUV, from Senator Andy Uba -one of the party’s governorship aspirants in the forthcoming primary tentatively scheduled for August 19 in the state.

The rampaging demonstrators had besieged the J Jumac Hotels Awka, venue for the party’s stakeholders’ meeting blocking Ibe from entering the hall.

They chanted solidarity songs denouncing the chairman and his alleged sponsors, also bearing placards with various inscriptions saying, “Emeka Ibe is a threat to democracy”, “APC Orumba South LGA passes vote of no confidence on Emeka Ibe”, “Emeka Ibe and Senator Andy Uba have polluted APC with forged delegates list”, “APC headquarters should disqualify Andy Uba and remove Emeka Ibe without further delay”

The spokesman Mr Onyebuchi Ngwu, from Owerre Ezukalla in Orumba South Council accused Ibe of embezzling monies ranging from N4.4m to about N15m and properties belonging to the party in the area.

Ozoemena Unegbu who identified himself as the party’s Council Chairman pointed out that instead Ibe decided to substitute their names with those who didn’t stand for or won the congress as a way to escape accounting for their money. Ever since he has refuse to work with the authentic council and Ward executives n Orumba South LGA. Taken on why they allowed the matter to linger for so long till now, he showed some of the petitions he had written since then to the national headquarters on the matter.

When confronted by journalists he admitted that the state Secretary actually wrote a petition against him, but that the National Working Committee has dismissed the allegations of forged delegates list as it was the prerogative of the national secretariat for being frivolous and lacking in merit. More so that the author(State Secretary) did not raise the issue in any of their meetings before going above them to the national secretariat.

He said the allegations against him, the national chairman Chief John Oyegun and the Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige were seen as being fueled by fears. He disclosed that he was alleged to have collected N50m from Senator Andy Uba, one of the party’s governorship aspirants.

Oyegun and Ngige were also allegedly accused of collecting N500m and N300m from Uba to aid his emergence as the consensus governorship candidate. All these, Ibe stated were unfair, false and malicious, calculated to tarnish their image.

When Uba’s campaign office was contacted about the allegations, they waved it away as coming from those who feel intimidated about Uba’s popularity and wide acceptance.
