Senator Ike Ekweremadu has distanced himself from the Twitter exchanges between Senator Ben Bruce and Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amechi, saying “Count me out”.

Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, has distanced himself from the Twitter exchanges between Senator Ben Bruce and Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi as reported by a national daily.

Amaechi, and a serving Senator, Ben Bruce, had on Sunday engaged in a twitter fight over the activities of the current government.

The fight was set off by a tweet posted by a popular tweeter user, Japheth Omojuwa, who tweeted that Ben Bruce should not be taken seriously.

Bruce wrote on his twitter page that “Your own minister spent ₦80 million on a one day dinner, yet it is your citizens you accuse of being criminals #IAmANigerianNotACriminal”.

However, in statement issued by media aide to Ekweremadu, Uche Anichuwku stated that “the said Twitter handle does not belong to the person or Office of the Deputy President of the Senate.

“For the umpteenth time, Senator Ekweremadu does not own a Twitter handle and his other social media accounts were dismantled several years ago as explained in previous statements by the Office.

“Several of such fake Twitter and other social media handles were duly reported to the respective platforms and were taken down.

“While the Deputy President of the Senate does not shirk from airing his views on issues as he deems fit, he will not accept to be attributed with comments he never made.

“Therefore, the Office, once again, calls on members of the public to discountenance such fictitious social media handles and comments, as they have absolutely nothing to do with his person or Office.

“Similarly, the Office, once again, wishes to appeal to media houses, to always crosscheck with it, before going ahead to attribute comments on Social Media platforms to either the person of Senator Ike Ekweremadu or the Office of the Deputy President of the Senate.”
