A youth group under the auspices of North East Youth for true Democracy (NEYOD) yesterday converged in Yola, Adamawa state and issued a press statement calling the attention of the National leadership of All Progressives Congress (APC) to appoint Dr. Umar Duhu to be the North East vice chairman of the Party.
The letter stated that Duhu have all what it takes to hold the position better than anybody else in the zone seeing the role he played in supporting the party to what it is today.
“Who else can you tell us can perform better than Umar Duhu, the person that served as Special Assistant to the Honourable Minister of State for Interior and later Defence,” they asked.
“He became the Adamawa State ANPP Chairman between 2010 and 2013, and doubled as the Special Assistant to the ANPP Board of Trustees Chairman, and he was equally the North East Chairman for the ANPP Forum of State Chairmen.”
The group also said Umar held the Coordinating Chairman for the Forum of ANPP Adamawa State Chairman effectively, the position merited him the pioneer appointment of National Vice Chairman (North East) of the Governing APC.
He held the position until the unfortunate APC National Convention on June 14, 2014, where Duhu’s name was tactically deleted from the list of elected Officers, because of the strong disagreement with two top APC Leaders (Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Sen. Ali Modu Sheriff).
Duhu became a sacrificial lamb.
The group lament on how the entire Leaders of APC in Nigeria surprisingly decided to make Duhu to be the only sacrificial lamb and scapegoat of the Party, haven graciously served for the successes of the party’s previous elections, but kept faith with the APC, and remained as a very loyal member of the party.
He remained hopeful that, one day, the APC will act positively on his complaint on the conduct of the convention which meted injustice on him.
Till today, the APC never acted, nor out of courtesy, communicated to Duhu, the outcome of their conclusion on his complaint.
After the Much and mightier bridges Duhu crossed, he’s bent on constructing and bridging up walls of hatred against the Party, he make sure the party remains peaceful in all her affairs with Party loyal members.
The leader of the group, Alhaji Bana Zanna, who appended his signature in the letter said: “today, the heavens have opened for Duhu to return to his position of choice as the National Vice Chairman, North East of the APC.”
“APC must give it to Duhu for being instrumental to the peace, stability and formation of APC structure in the Northern States, particularly in the politically more delicate States of Bauchi, Gombe, Adamawa, and Taraba States.”
“It is not too much for us to ask for the position of the National Vice Chairman for Umar Duhu, North East of the APC, a position he held effectively and with records to show.
“If APC is about Justice and is willing to govern as peace setters and symbol of embodiment, Duhu truly merits this office, which became vacant as a result of the appointment of the former occupant as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
