FIRS boss Fowler enmeshed in secret employment saga

I condemn unequivocally the current trend where some government agencies resort to secret employment in the name of replacement or whatever nomenclature this wuru-wuruism is called.

The news making the round that Mr. Babatunde Fowler-led Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) recruited about 349 new staff secretly just few weeks after CBN was enmeshed in similar exercise is reprehensible, horrendous, lugubrious and very unfortunate

This system whereby plum jobs are secretly cornered by the children, girlfriends, boyfriends, concubines and relations of the haves and top politicians is a dangerous trend that must be quickly nip in the bud before it snowball into a class fight between the haves and haves not.

Any employment by MDAs whether for replacement or mass recruitment should follow due process:

1. advertisement for such vacancies should be widely publicised in national dailies and,

2. a level playing ground provided for applicants to try their luck.

I call on federal character commission to wake up from its slumber by ensuring that there is fairness, equity and justice in recruitment exercise by MDAs.

This is the time Nigerians need Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), civil societies and National Assembly members (although some of them are direct beneficiary of this mago-mago) to step in and stop this injustice and anomaly with immediate effect

The media must be vigilant to unmask any MDAs that may attempt to embark on nefarious secret employment

Finally, I call on President Muhammadu Buhari, who is a man of impeccable character and high integrity, to give a presidential directive nullifying all this back door employment.

He should also sack those involved in this unfortunate “secret employment gate” that is aimed at sabotaging the government anti-corruption efforts

Never again!
