(DDM) – The Olotu and Ekuogbe Rowland Akpodiete Foundation celebrated its seventh anniversary with a comprehensive security and conflict resolution training in Ughelli South, Delta State.
Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathered that the event, held at Unity Hall, LGA Secretariat, brought together over 100 participants, including vigilante leaders, community members, and security experts, highlighting the foundation’s commitment to peacebuilding and community safety.

Ughelli South LGA Chairman, Hon. Lucky Avweromre, represented by Olorogun John Akaruayen Ewenede, lauded the foundation for its ongoing efforts to foster harmony and reduce communal tensions in local communities. He emphasized that collaboration between citizens and security agencies is key to sustainable peace.
The Divisional Police Officer, CSP Olowole Oladipupo, also commended the initiative, noting that such trainings equip residents with practical skills to prevent and manage conflicts effectively. He encouraged participants to adopt strategies learned during the session to enhance neighborhood security.
Security expert Mr. Sylvester Obose highlighted the importance of proactive engagement between local communities and law enforcement. He stressed that empowering residents with knowledge of conflict resolution mechanisms strengthens social cohesion and reduces the likelihood of violent disputes.
SPY ACP Olotu Akpodiete, PhD, the foundation’s Executive Director, thanked all stakeholders for their participation and support. He emphasized that the training is part of the foundation’s broader mission to promote peace, security, and civic responsibility among citizens.
As part of the anniversary activities, the foundation distributed communication gadgets to vigilante groups and community leaders to enhance coordination and rapid response in case of emergencies. Participants were trained on the proper use of the devices to ensure efficient monitoring and reporting of security incidents.
The foundation further outlined plans for continued engagement with local communities, including periodic workshops, awareness campaigns, and collaboration with law enforcement agencies. These initiatives aim to create safer neighborhoods and instill a culture of proactive conflict management.
Community leaders and participants expressed gratitude to the Akpodiete Foundation for its dedication to improving safety and promoting peaceful coexistence. Many emphasized that such initiatives not only strengthen security but also foster trust and unity within Delta State communities.
The anniversary training reinforces the foundation’s long-standing commitment to social development, peacebuilding, and empowerment of grassroots leaders, ensuring that local communities remain resilient in the face of emerging security challenges.
