(DDM) – The Anambra State Government has approved fresh contracts worth about ₦43.7 billion to boost infrastructure development across the state.

Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathered that the projects, which cut across roads, schools, hospitals, and airport facilities, were ratified at the 19th Anambra State Executive Council meeting held on Monday, September 15, 2025, at the “Light House” in Awka.

In a statement, the state Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, explained that the projects were carefully selected based on their economic and strategic significance.

He stressed that Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration would not embark on unnecessary projects simply to score political points ahead of the forthcoming election.

According to him, the government remains committed to completing critical projects while ensuring contractors are promptly paid to avoid the backlog of debts that plagued previous administrations.

That project, valued at ₦1.4 billion, was awarded to Ferrotex Construction Company.

Another significant approval is the construction of School Road with interlocking pavement stones at Iyiowa Odekpe, awarded to Roadways Nig Ltd for ₦2.23 billion.

Commissioner Mefor said the contracts reflect Governor Soludo’s focus on infrastructure renewal, service delivery, and improved living conditions for residents.

He maintained that the investments would also enhance the state’s attractiveness to local and foreign investors.

The approvals come at a time when residents expect continuity in infrastructure growth, as the Soludo administration positions itself ahead of the next election cycle.
