(DDM) – The political landscape of Lagos State took a dramatic turn on Tuesday following the confirmation of Abdul-Ganiyu Obasa Jr, the son of Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, as the new Chairman of Agege Local Government Area.
The development, confirmed by Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) political correspondents in Lagos, came barely 24 hours after the former council chairman, Hon. Tunde Azeez, tendered his resignation under undisclosed circumstances.
According to reports obtained by DDM, the younger Obasa’s appointment was swiftly ratified by the Agege Legislative Council in what political observers have described as “a seamless transition engineered from the top.”
Sources within the Lagos political circle say the move is part of an ongoing realignment of forces ahead of the 2027 general elections, with many linking the appointment to the Speaker’s growing influence within the All Progressives Congress (APC) structure in Lagos.
