Bandits kidnap 6 girls, 16-year-old boy from FCT’s community

Armed bandits have abducted a 16-year-old boy and six young girls, aged 17 to 23, in a shocking overnight attack on Gidan-Bijimi, a community in Abuja’s Bwari Area Council.

The attackers, wielding AK-47 rifles, stormed two houses around 9:47 p.m., firing shots and causing widespread panic. Local vigilantes tried to intervene but were forced to retreat due to the bandits’ superior firepower.

A resident, Suleiman Shuaibu, whose cousin sister is among the victims, confirmed the incident, saying some residents fled their homes and there’s been no contact with the kidnappers yet.

The FCT Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, couldn’t be reached for comment.

This attack comes just two days after FCT Minister Nyesom Wike directed security agencies to boost surveillance around Abuja’s borders.

A joint taskforce involving police, DSS, and military personnel has been deployed, with Commissioner of Police CP Miller G. Dantawaye urging them to collaborate and curb criminal activities.
