Mohbad’s Burial Set After DNA Test Amid Family Legal Dispute

(DDM) – The father of late Nigerian singer Mohbad, Joseph Aloba, has announced that the musician will be laid to rest immediately following the completion of a crucial DNA test.

DDM notes that the burial has been delayed due to ongoing disagreements between Joseph Aloba and Mohbad’s widow, Omowunmi “Wunmi” Aloba, over the paternity of the singer’s only child, Master Liam Aloba.

In a video circulating online, Joseph Aloba described the DNA test as the key factor holding back the burial.

“Today is the DNA court case, my lawyer is here, and I am telling the whole world that this is the most important thing and this is what has been delaying the burial of Mohbad. After the DNA is done, we will immediately move on to the burial,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Wunmi has taken proactive legal measures to prevent any unauthorised claims or control of Mohbad’s estate.

Naija News reports that she filed formal notices at the Lagos State High Court, Ikeja, requesting the Probate Registry to reject any application for Letters of Administration from parties who are not lawful beneficiaries.

According to a letter dated November 19, 2025, submitted by her law firm, Salawu, Akingbolu & Co., Wunmi confirmed that she had filed Form 5 and Form 6, which legally bar the issuance of Letters of Administration to anyone not recognised by law.

The correspondence, signed by I. P. Awo (Esq.), identifies Omowunmi as Mohbad’s legal wife and the mother of his only surviving child.

She also highlighted that public announcements were placed in two national newspapers in November 2025, cautioning against “surreptitious or fraudulent attempts to claim the estate without proper legal process.”

Her legal team emphasised that the notice remains in the court records and is binding until the estate is lawfully administered according to Nigerian law.

The ongoing dispute underscores the complexities of estate management in Nigeria, especially in cases involving prominent public figures, and has drawn widespread public attention.

The resolution of the DNA test is expected to pave the way for the burial, bringing closure to fans and family members who have been awaiting Mohbad’s final rites.

The situation also reflects broader issues around legal rights, inheritance, and family disagreements in the entertainment industry, with Mohbad’s estate becoming a focal point for both legal scrutiny and media coverage.
