Abia State Governor Alex Otti has firmly declared that he will remain with the Labour Party, despite growing speculation surrounding Peter Obi’s planned exit from the party.

DDM gathered that Otti made the statement during a press briefing in Umuahia, reassuring party members and supporters that he is committed to strengthening and rebuilding the Labour Party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The governor emphasized that his allegiance to the party is rooted in shared values of integrity, accountability, and service to the Nigerian people, adding that abandoning the party would undermine these principles.

Otti acknowledged Peter Obi’s contributions to the Labour Party but stated that the party’s mission extends beyond any single individual, and its vision for Nigeria requires sustained leadership and collective effort.

He urged party members at all levels to remain united, disciplined, and focused on grassroots mobilization, stressing that the Labour Party must continue to champion good governance, social justice, and policies that benefit ordinary Nigerians.

According to Otti, defecting from the party would not serve the interests of Abia residents or the broader Nigerian populace, highlighting that stability and continuity in party leadership are essential for political credibility and electoral success.

DDM reports that the governor also outlined plans for restructuring the party in Abia State, including improved internal communication, stronger coordination among local and senatorial units, and targeted programs to engage youth and women in political processes.

The governor concluded by appealing to Nigerians to support leaders who prioritize party ideals over personal ambition, reaffirming his readiness to rebuild and fortify the Labour Party for the challenges ahead.
