(DDM) – The All Progressives Congress (APC) has carried out a major leadership reshuffle within its 2026 National Convention Central Coordination Committee.
DDM gathered that former Katsina State governor, Aminu Bello Masari, has been appointed as the new chairman of the committee.
Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, who was previously designated to lead the body, has been reassigned as treasurer.
In his new role, Uzodimma will oversee financial management and ensure accountability for convention funds.
The party also expanded the committee from 73 members to 90, bringing in more voices from across its national structure.
Newly inducted members include Senator Barry Mpigi and other prominent APC stakeholders, strengthening the team’s national representation.
According to party officials, the adjustments reflect a revised structure that takes zoning considerations and strategic goals into account.
The reconstitution is aimed at promoting inclusiveness while aligning the committee with APC’s political priorities ahead of the convention.
Officials explained that the leadership changes are procedural and intended to improve efficiency and coordination as preparations intensify.
Masari, as chairman, is expected to lead the planning process and ensure smooth execution of convention activities.
Uzodimma’s financial oversight role is designed to guarantee transparency and proper fund management during the event.
The expanded committee membership underscores the party’s commitment to balanced regional and stakeholder representation in its decision-making process.
Observers say the reshuffle could also be a strategic move to consolidate unity and prevent internal friction ahead of the national convention.
APC leaders described the changes as necessary to strengthen internal organisation and deliver a well-structured convention.
The party stressed that the adjustments do not reflect any political demotion but rather a realignment of roles for operational effectiveness.
Political analysts note that such reshuffles are common in Nigerian parties to address evolving demands and maintain cohesion.
With Masari at the helm and Uzodimma managing finances, APC believes the committee is better equipped to handle the logistical and political complexities of the convention.
The restructured team is tasked with ensuring that all zonal, regional, and stakeholder interests are considered in the planning process.
Party insiders say the moves signal APC’s determination to present a unified front and avoid internal disputes during the national gathering.
The changes have been welcomed by some members who see them as a step toward inclusiveness, efficiency, and stronger national coordination.
Preparations for the 2026 National Convention are now expected to proceed with clearer leadership and enhanced operational capacity.
APC leaders insist that the success of the convention is critical to shaping the party’s direction and strategy for the upcoming electoral cycles.
