(DDM) – The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has rejected claims of division within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), insisting that the party remains united ahead of its forthcoming national convention.
Wike made the clarification while speaking with journalists after inspecting ongoing and completed infrastructure projects across Abuja.
He stated that disagreements among party members should not be interpreted as evidence of factionalisation within the PDP.
According to him, internal differences are normal in political organisations and do not necessarily indicate a breakdown of unity.
The former Rivers State governor emphasised that there is only one recognised PDP, dismissing suggestions of parallel structures within the party.
He acknowledged that some members may feel dissatisfied with certain developments but maintained that such concerns are being addressed.
Wike noted that reconciliation efforts are ongoing as part of preparations for the party’s national convention.
He expressed confidence that the PDP would emerge stronger and more cohesive after resolving its internal issues.
Political observers say the statement comes amid heightened speculation about divisions within the opposition party.
The PDP has in recent times faced internal disagreements over leadership and strategic direction ahead of future elections.
Analysts believe that how the party manages these differences could significantly impact its performance in upcoming electoral contests.
Wike’s remarks are seen as an attempt to project stability and reassure party members and supporters.
He also used the opportunity to highlight progress in infrastructure development under the Federal Capital Territory Administration.
According to him, several key projects have recorded significant progress, with some already completed.
He reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to delivering high-quality infrastructure within set timelines.
Wike stressed that development efforts in the FCT are focused on improving living standards and boosting economic activities.
Residents and stakeholders have continued to monitor the pace of infrastructure delivery in the capital city.
The minister assured that the administration would sustain its efforts to meet public expectations.
The comments reflect a dual focus on political stability within the PDP and governance priorities in the FCT.
