(DDM) – The Peoples Democratic Party has formally ratified its ward, local government, state, and zonal congresses conducted across the country.

The decision was reached during the party’s national convention, where key stakeholders endorsed the outcomes of the various congresses.

Party officials described the ratification as a critical step toward strengthening internal democracy and consolidating party structures nationwide.

The congresses, held at different levels, were designed to elect party executives and streamline leadership across the grassroots and higher tiers.

By approving the results, the PDP leadership affirmed the legitimacy of the processes carried out in the states and zones.

The move is expected to stabilise the party’s internal framework ahead of future political engagements.

Party leaders noted that the ratification reflects a commitment to due process and adherence to the party’s constitution.

They added that it would enhance coordination and communication across all levels of the organisation.

The congresses had earlier witnessed participation from party members, delegates, and stakeholders across various states.

Despite reported disagreements in some quarters, the convention’s decision signals an effort to unify the party.

Political observers say the ratification could help reduce tensions arising from internal disputes.

They noted that endorsement at the national level often serves as a mechanism for resolving lingering controversies.

The PDP has been working to reposition itself as a formidable opposition force in Nigeria’s political landscape.

Analysts believe that strengthening its internal structures is essential for achieving that goal.

The ratified congresses are expected to play a key role in mobilising grassroots support ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Observers say sustained unity will be crucial in determining the PDP’s electoral prospects.

Attention now shifts to how effectively the party can leverage its strengthened structure moving forward.
