ADC Crisis Explodes As INEC Deletes David Mark Leadership

Share this:

(DDM) – The Independent National Electoral Commission has de-listed the National Working Committee of the African Democratic Congress led by David Mark from its official portal, escalating the party’s ongoing leadership crisis.

Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) learned that the action followed a court order directing the electoral body to suspend recognition of the affected leadership structure.

The development effectively halts all official engagements between INEC and the faction of the party led by Mark.

Sources indicate that the commission acted in compliance with judicial directives, pending the resolution of the dispute.

The move has further deepened divisions within the ADC, which has been grappling with internal disagreements over leadership and control of party structures.

Political analysts say the removal from INEC’s portal carries significant implications, as recognition by the electoral body is crucial for party activities, including participation in elections.

Without official recognition, the affected faction may face limitations in conducting lawful political operations.

The crisis is believed to stem from competing claims to leadership within the party, with different factions asserting legitimacy.

Observers note that such disputes are not uncommon in Nigeria’s political landscape, especially as elections approach.

However, they warn that prolonged internal conflict could weaken the party’s chances in future electoral contests.

The court’s intervention suggests that legal battles may play a decisive role in determining the outcome of the leadership tussle.

Stakeholders within the party have reportedly called for dialogue and reconciliation to prevent further fragmentation.

Some members argue that unity is essential if the ADC hopes to position itself as a viable alternative in national politics.

Others insist that due process must be followed to ensure legitimacy and fairness in leadership selection.

The situation has drawn attention from political observers, who see it as a test of internal democracy within the party.

INEC has not indicated when or if the affected leadership will be reinstated, pending the final resolution of the court case.

As the crisis unfolds, attention remains focused on both the judiciary and party stakeholders to determine the next course of action.

The outcome is expected to shape the future direction of the ADC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
