(DDM) – Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has raised alarm over a disturbing tactic used by attackers in the recent deadly incident in Jos, revealing that the assailants disguised themselves as officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.

Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) confirmed that the governor disclosed the development while addressing concerns over the security situation in the state.

Mutfwang stated that the attackers reportedly gained access to the targeted community by posing as NDLEA operatives before launching a violent assault on unsuspecting residents.

He warned that the use of security agency disguises represents a dangerous escalation that undermines public trust and complicates security operations.

According to the governor, the tactic allowed the gunmen to bypass suspicion, making it easier to carry out the attack with devastating consequences.

The incident, which resulted in multiple casualties, has heightened tension across affected communities and raised fresh concerns about security vulnerabilities.

Security analysts say impersonating law enforcement agencies is a growing threat that could weaken cooperation between civilians and genuine security personnel.

They warn that such tactics may lead to hesitation among citizens when approached by security agents, potentially affecting intelligence gathering.

The Plateau State Government has called on security agencies to intensify surveillance and adopt new strategies to counter evolving threats.

Mutfwang assured residents that efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend those responsible for the attack.

He also urged communities to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements, especially individuals posing as security operatives without proper verification.

Authorities are expected to review existing security protocols to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Observers note that Plateau State has experienced recurring security challenges, often linked to communal tensions and armed attacks.

They stress that addressing the situation will require coordinated action between government, security forces, and local communities.

As investigations continue, attention remains on how security agencies will respond to this emerging tactic and restore public confidence.
