(DDM) – Senator Ibrahim Lamido representing Sokoto East Senatorial District has resigned from the All Progressives Congress, citing worsening insecurity and economic hardship in his constituency.

Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) notes that the lawmaker attributed his decision to what he described as the party’s inability to adequately address the growing challenges facing the people.

Lamido stated that the persistent security threats and economic struggles have continued to affect the daily lives of his constituents, prompting his decision to take a new political direction.

According to him, the situation in Sokoto East has deteriorated, with residents grappling with fear, uncertainty, and declining living standards.

He expressed concern that efforts to tackle insecurity have not yielded the desired results, leaving communities vulnerable.

The senator also pointed to rising cost of living and economic hardship as key factors influencing his resignation.

Observers say his exit reflects broader concerns among political stakeholders over governance and public welfare.

Analysts note that insecurity in northern Nigeria, including banditry and kidnapping, has remained a major issue affecting communities and economic activities.

They add that economic pressures, including inflation and unemployment, have further compounded the challenges faced by citizens.

Lamido’s resignation is expected to trigger political realignments within Sokoto State and possibly beyond.

Political watchers say such moves could influence party dynamics ahead of future elections.

The development also raises questions about the ruling party’s ability to retain key members amid growing dissatisfaction.

As reactions continue to trail the announcement, attention remains on the senator’s next political move and its potential impact on the region’s political landscape.
