Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested a Lagos-based pastor and his wife after discovering 11 kilograms of skunk hidden inside their vehicle.
The suspects, Afolabi Hodonu, 45, and his wife Success Hodonu, 35, were apprehended on April 2 at the Gbaji checkpoint along the Seme border in Badagry.
According to NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, a search of the couple’s Honda Pilot SUV uncovered the illicit drugs concealed in specially modified compartments within the vehicle.
The arrest followed an earlier operation on March 30, when officers intercepted a suspected fake security agent, Sunday Samuel, who was transporting 24.5 kilograms of skunk along the same route. Investigations from that case led to the couple’s capture.
Meanwhile, the Celestial Church of Christ has distanced itself from the suspects, stating that they are not recognised members of its Ketu mainstream branch under the leadership of Emmanuel Mobiyina Oshoffa.
The church described the incident as a “despicable act” and announced plans to send a task force to investigate the situation in the Seme area of Badagry.
NDLEA said the arrest is part of a broader crackdown on drug trafficking across the country in recent weeks.
