The First Lady of Anambra State, Nonye Soludo, has called for improved welfare, protection, and compassion for vulnerable children during a visit to orphanage homes across the state.

She made the appeal while interacting with children and caregivers, emphasizing the need for collective responsibility in ensuring that less privileged members of society receive adequate care and support.

The visit formed part of her ongoing humanitarian outreach aimed at promoting child welfare and strengthening social support systems for disadvantaged groups.

During the engagement, the First Lady spent time with the children, shared gifts, and encouraged them to remain hopeful despite their circumstances.

She stressed that every child deserves love, education, and a safe environment to grow, regardless of their background or personal challenges.

According to her, society must move beyond sympathy and take deliberate actions to improve the living conditions of orphaned and vulnerable children.

She also urged individuals, corporate organizations, and government agencies to collaborate in addressing the needs of orphanages, including access to quality healthcare, education, and nutrition.

Caregivers at the facilities highlighted some of the challenges they face, including inadequate funding, limited resources, and the increasing number of children requiring support.

They called for sustained assistance from both the government and well-meaning individuals to help maintain standards of care and expand their capacity.

Observers note that orphanages play a crucial role in providing shelter and guidance for children who lack parental care, making them essential components of the social welfare system.

The First Lady reiterated her commitment to advocating for policies and initiatives that prioritize child protection and development within the state.

She further emphasized that investing in children, particularly those in vulnerable conditions, is critical to building a more inclusive and equitable society.

Her visit has been widely commended by community members and stakeholders, who described it as a timely intervention that draws attention to the plight of orphaned children.
