The Forum of South-East Academic Doctors has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Dr. Uzoma Nwaubani, a United States-based Nigerian physician who passed away during a medical outreach in Abia State.

In a statement, the group extended condolences to the family of the late doctor, the Abia State Government led by Alex Otti, and residents of the state, describing her death as a significant loss to both the medical profession and the wider Nigerian community.

Dr. Nwaubani reportedly died following a sudden medical emergency while participating in a free healthcare programme organised by the Association of Nigerian Physicians in the Americas. She had travelled from the United States with her family to contribute to the initiative.

The association commended the resilience of her family and colleagues, as well as the efforts of the medical personnel who attended to her.

It further highlighted the critical role of diaspora professionals in supporting Nigeria’s healthcare system, particularly through voluntary medical missions.
