“He Wants to Cheat Me” — Mohbad’s Widow Wunmi Calls Out Father-in-Law Over Properties and DNA Demand

Wunmi Aloba, the widow of late Nigerian singer Mohbad (Ilerioluwa Aloba), has accused her father-in-law, Joseph Aloba, of attempting to cheat her over properties allegedly left behind by her husband.

She made the allegation during an interview on Channels Television earlier this week, where she spoke about the ongoing family dispute following the singer’s death.

According to Wunmi, tensions began shortly after Mohbad’s passing, when conversations with her father-in-law allegedly shifted toward discussions about the late singer’s assets. She expressed concern over what she described as attempts to take control of the properties and royalties.

“I feel like he is trying to cheat me because he’s older than me and like a father figure,” she said, adding that the situation has become increasingly difficult to resolve.

Wunmi also claimed that her father-in-law demanded a DNA test for her son, Liam, insisting she has never opposed the request. She further alleged that he questioned the legitimacy of her marriage to Mohbad despite previously acknowledging their union.

Speaking on the royalties, she explained that no individual has taken control of them due to an ongoing legal dispute Mohbad had with his record label before his death. She noted that the case remains in court, with a representative handling the matter on behalf of her son, who is still a minor.

Wunmi added that their relationship was once cordial but deteriorated after disagreements surrounding family matters, including issues related to their child’s naming ceremony.

As of the time of this report, Joseph Aloba has not publicly responded to the allegations.

The development adds to the ongoing controversies surrounding Mohbad’s death and the disputes within his family, which continue to draw public attention across Nigeria.
