Nigeria’s Hardship Result Of Bad Leadership, Says Afenifere Leader

LAGOS, NIGERIA — A factional leader of the Yoruba socio-political group Afenifere has blamed Nigeria’s worsening economic hardship and insecurity on what he described as years of poor leadership and anti-people government policies.

The elder statesman stated that rising poverty, unemployment, inflation, and insecurity across the country reflect failures in governance rather than a lack of national resources.

According to him, millions of Nigerians continue to struggle with the rising cost of living while political leaders appear disconnected from the realities facing ordinary citizens.

He argued that the current economic difficulties affecting households and businesses have deepened frustration among citizens in both urban and rural communities.

The Afenifere chieftain also criticized policies he claimed have weakened the purchasing power of Nigerians and increased hardship for vulnerable groups.

He warned that continued economic pressure without meaningful relief measures could further worsen social tension and public dissatisfaction.

The political leader maintained that insecurity in several parts of the country has also exposed weaknesses in governance and national coordination.

Communities across Nigeria have continued to face challenges linked to banditry, kidnappings, violent attacks, and economic instability.

The Afenifere factional leader called for leadership focused on accountability, economic productivity, and citizen welfare rather than political survival.

He stressed the need for policies capable of improving food security, job creation, education, and infrastructure development.

The statement comes amid growing national debate over the country’s economic direction and the impact of ongoing reforms on citizens.

Political observers note that criticism from influential socio-political groups often reflects wider public concerns about governance and living conditions.

Nigeria has witnessed rising inflation, currency pressures, and increased costs of essential goods in recent years, affecting businesses and households nationwide.

Analysts say economic reforms introduced by the government have generated mixed reactions, with supporters arguing they are necessary for long-term stability while critics insist the burden on citizens remains too severe.

The Afenifere leader also urged Nigerians to remain politically conscious and actively participate in democratic processes ahead of future elections.

He emphasized that leadership choices made during elections directly shape national development and citizens’ welfare.

Supporters of the government, however, continue to defend ongoing reforms, arguing that difficult decisions are necessary to stabilize the economy and attract investment.

Political commentators believe debates around governance, hardship, and accountability will remain central issues as preparations for the 2027 elections gradually intensify.

The latest remarks add to growing political discussions surrounding economic hardship, insecurity, and the future direction of Nigeria’s leadership.
