LAFIA, NASARAWA STATE — A faction of the Labour Party in Nasarawa State loyal to Julius Abure has distributed free governorship and senatorial nomination forms to aspirants ahead of preparations for future electoral contests.

The move, according to party officials within the faction, was designed to reduce financial pressure on interested aspirants and encourage wider participation in the party’s internal democratic process.

Leaders of the group stated that the initiative was introduced as part of efforts to cushion the effects of prevailing economic challenges and create opportunities for more members to contest elective positions without financial barriers.

Party representatives argued that the high cost of nomination forms in some political parties often discourages capable individuals from seeking public office.

The distribution exercise reportedly attracted aspiring candidates and supporters from different parts of Nasarawa State who gathered to participate in the process.

Members of the faction expressed optimism that lowering entry costs would encourage inclusiveness and broaden political participation among party members.

Political analysts note that free nomination forms have increasingly become a strategy used by political groups to attract aspirants and expand support bases.

They also pointed out that such initiatives can strengthen internal party engagement, although questions sometimes arise regarding funding sources and broader party consensus.

The development comes amid ongoing internal realignments and factional activities within the Labour Party in several states across the country.

Observers say internal divisions within political parties often shape preparations ahead of major elections and can influence candidate selection processes.

Supporters of the Nasarawa faction described the move as a demonstration of commitment toward giving members equal opportunities to pursue political ambitions.
