The sister of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, Mrs Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, and her twin sons have regained their freedom after days in captivity.
A senior police source confirmed the development to journalists in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, on Saturday night.
Mrs John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin boys were abducted earlier this week at Elewura-Challenge in Ibadan South-West Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The victims were reportedly seized by armed men who trailed their vehicle from their residence before intercepting them around 7:30 a.m. and whisking them away to an unknown location.
The source disclosed that the victims were rescued on Saturday, although details surrounding the operation were still sketchy as of the time of filing this report.
The incident had sparked concerns among residents, coming months after the abduction of an All Progressives Congress chieftain in the state, Wale Oriade.
Oriade was reportedly kidnapped in December 2025 at his office located within the PJ Square Shopping Complex near the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited station along Akala Expressway, Ibadan.
Eyewitnesses had said the assailants arrived in a blue Micra vehicle and forcefully took him away, raising fresh concerns about insecurity in parts of the state.
As of the time of filing this report, security authorities had yet to release further details on the circumstances surrounding the release of Adelabu’s sister and her children.
