Zack Orji, Other Nollywood Stars Face Backlash Over Tinubu Support Rally in Abuja

Veteran Nollywood actor Zack Orji and several other entertainment figures have come under heavy criticism following their participation in a solidarity rally for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Abuja.

The rally was organised by the political group Re-elect Tinubu For Inclusive Nigeria (RTIFN), under the slogan “Relax, Tinubu Is Fixing Nigeria.” The event reportedly followed a community medical outreach programme that offered free consultations and medications to residents in the Federal Capital Territory.

At the event, Zack Orji, who serves as Deputy Director General of the movement, praised the administration’s efforts in infrastructure development and urged Nigerians to support the president’s reform agenda ahead of the 2027 general elections. The group also called for stronger action to address rising cases of kidnapping across the country.

However, the rally quickly sparked backlash on social media, particularly on X (formerly Twitter), where many users criticised the participating celebrities for publicly endorsing the government amid ongoing economic hardship, rising fuel prices, inflation, and insecurity.

Some critics accused the entertainers of being disconnected from the realities faced by ordinary Nigerians, while others suggested that personal interests may have influenced their political alignment.

Concerns were also raised about Zack Orji’s appearance during the rally, with some online users describing him as frail in recent footage from the event.
