Nigerian music star BNXN, born Daniel Benso, has revealed that the rising cost of living in Lagos played a significant role in his decision to relocate to the United States.

Speaking during a recent livestream, the Afrobeats singer described Lagos as increasingly expensive, noting that daily expenses in the city now rival and in some cases exceed those in Los Angeles.

Beyond financial considerations, BNXN pointed to safety and quality of life as key factors influencing his move. He explained that his experience in the United States has been markedly different, particularly in terms of personal security and everyday interactions.

According to the singer, encounters with individuals demanding money were a frequent occurrence in Lagos, contributing to a sense of discomfort. In contrast, he noted that despite economic challenges in the U.S., he has not faced similar situations since relocating.

While acknowledging that housing costs abroad can be steep, BNXN disclosed that he pays a substantial monthly rent. However, he maintained that other living expenses in Los Angeles are relatively manageable once accommodation is secured.

His remarks have sparked widespread conversation online, with many Nigerians debating the realities of living costs in Lagos and the broader trend of public figures seeking residence abroad.
