Atiku: ‘I no dey involve for PDP leadership crisis’

Atiku react to recent PDP crisis clear him position

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar don talk say him no dey involved for di current leadership crisis wey dey shake di Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on October 27, 2024.

Atiku Special Assistant for Public Communication, Phrank Shuaibu, make di clarification for interview on Sunday October 27.

Di party don dey face suspensions and counter-suspensions, wey make PDP Governors’ Forum, Board of Trustees, and National Reconciliation Committee intervene.

Reacting, Shuaibu talk say Atiku no be part of di crisis, describe any suggestion of him involvement as “bizarre” and “extremely far-fetched.”

“Former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar believe for due process and him don dey focus on how to build di PDP make e strong pass, and him no get hand for any crisis wey go carry di party backward.

“E no make sense and e no fair to insinuate say Atiku get any involvement with any individual or group wey wan brief lawyers and go court to vacate Justice Peter Lifu’s judgement,” Shuaibu stress.

Di crisis dey believed to come from long-standing wahala between FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and Atiku.

Notably, neidir Atiku nor Wike get invitation to recent meeting of PDP stakeholders, wey PDP Governors Forum Chairman Bala Mohammed describe as meeting of “all of PDP” stakeholders.

Atiku Abubakar don run for President of Naija six times, for 1993, 2007, 2011, 2015, 2019 and 2023.

Him run for di Social Democratic Party presidential primaries for 1993, but him lose to Moshood Abiola and Baba Gana Kingible.

Him be presidential candidate of di Action Congress for di 2007 presidential election, come third to Umaru Yar’Adua of di PDP and Mahammadu Buhari of di ANPP.

Him contest di presidential primaries of di People’s Democratic Party during di 2011 presidential election, but him lose to di sitting President Goodluck Jonadan.

For 2014, him join di All Progressives Congress before di 2015 presidential election and contest di presidential primaries but lose to Muhammadu Buhari.

For 2017, him come back to di People Democratic Party and be di party presidential candidate during di 2019 presidential election, again lose to sitting President Muhammadu Buhari.

For May 2022, dem choose am as di People Democratic Party presidential candidate again, dis time for di 2023 general election after him defeat Nyesom Wike, di Governor of Rivers State, for di primaries.

Him come second for di general election, being defeated by Bola Tinubu, though Abubakar join oda opposition candidates to demand for revote.

On 25 November 2006, Abubakar announce say him go run for president.

On 20 December 2006, dem choose am as di presidential candidate of di Action Congress (AC).

On 14 March 2007, di Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) release di final list of 24 aspirants for 21 April presidential election.

Abubakar

Abubakar name no dey for di ballot. INEC talk say Abubakar name no dey bicos e dey for list of pipo wey dem indict for corruption by Abubakar wey government set up.

Abubakar go court on 16 March to make dem overturn him disqualification.

Supreme Court rule on 16 April say INEC no get power to disqualify candidates.

Di ruling allow Abubakar to contest di election, but pipo dey worry say e fit no possible to provide ballot wey get Abubakar name by 21 April, di date wey election go happen.

On 17 April, one spokesman for INEC talk say Abubakar go dey for di ballot.

According to official results, Abubakar take third place, behind PDP candidate Umaru Yar’Adua and ANPP candidate Muhammadu Buhari, with about 7% of di vote (2.6 million votes).

Abubakar reject di election results and call for dem to cancel am, say na Naija worst election eva.

E talk say e no go attend Umaru YarAdua inauguration on 29 May bicos e believe say di election no credible, say e no want to dignify such hollow ritual with my presence.
