Ruben Amorim Confirms Samuel Chukwueze Is Part of AC Milan’s Plans for New Season

AC Milan head coach Ruben Amorim has reaffirmed his confidence in Nigerian international Samuel Chukwueze, declaring that the talented winger remains an important part of the Rossoneri’s plans as preparations gather pace for the new Serie A season.

Amorim’s comments are expected to end weeks of speculation surrounding Chukwueze’s future after the Nigerian was linked with moves away from the Italian giants during the summer transfer window. The Portuguese manager made it clear that the club values the winger’s unique qualities and believes he can make a significant contribution to the team’s ambitions.

Speaking during his introductory press conference, Amorim explained that Chukwueze possesses attributes that are increasingly rare in modern football, particularly his ability to beat defenders in one on one situations.

According to the Milan boss, players with pace, creativity and dribbling ability are essential to the attacking philosophy he wants to build at the San Siro. He stressed that before searching for reinforcements in the transfer market, the club must carefully evaluate the quality already available within the squad.

The endorsement represents a major boost for Chukwueze, who returned to Milan after spending last season on loan at Fulham in the English Premier League. Although the London club opted not to activate the purchase clause in the agreement, the Nigerian winger produced encouraging performances, registering three league goals and four assists while adapting to English football.

Reports during the transfer window suggested Turkish side Trabzonspor made an approach for the Super Eagles star, but the move failed to materialise. Chukwueze reportedly preferred to remain at Milan and fight for his place under the club’s new manager rather than seek a fresh challenge elsewhere.

Amorim’s arrival appears to have changed the direction of Chukwueze’s career at Milan.

The Portuguese coach is renowned for building dynamic attacking teams that rely on quick transitions, intelligent movement and players capable of creating chances through individual brilliance. Those tactical principles closely match Chukwueze’s strengths, giving the Nigerian renewed hope of becoming a regular starter.

Since making his breakthrough at Villarreal in Spain, Chukwueze has earned a reputation as one of Africa’s most exciting wide attackers. His explosive acceleration, close ball control and fearless approach in one on one situations helped him establish himself in La Liga before securing his move to AC Milan.

His performances for Villarreal included memorable displays in both domestic competition and European tournaments, where he regularly troubled some of Europe’s strongest defensive units. Those performances also cemented his place in Nigeria’s senior national team.

For the Super Eagles, Chukwueze has consistently been one of the country’s most dangerous attacking players. His versatility allows him to operate on either wing while also supporting central attackers, making him an important asset in different tactical systems.

Football analysts believe Amorim’s confidence could help Chukwueze rediscover the consistency that first attracted Milan to sign him. With greater tactical clarity and increased trust from the coaching staff, the winger may finally enjoy the sustained opportunities needed to showcase his full potential in Serie A.

Competition for attacking positions at Milan remains intense, but Amorim has repeatedly emphasised that places in his starting lineup will be determined by performances during pre season and throughout the campaign.

The coach also highlighted the importance of maintaining financial discipline while making full use of existing squad members before pursuing expensive transfer targets. That philosophy could provide Chukwueze with the platform to prove his value and secure a long term future at one of Italy’s most successful clubs.

Milan supporters will now be eager to see how the Nigerian fits into Amorim’s tactical approach as the team prepares for domestic and European challenges. The club has already strengthened several areas of the squad, but the manager believes players returning from loan spells could also play an important role in the rebuilding process.

For Chukwueze, the coming months represent a fresh opportunity to establish himself at San Siro. With the backing of his new manager and a renewed determination to succeed, the Nigerian international will be aiming to repay Amorim’s faith through strong performances and decisive contributions on the pitch.

As Milan begin a new chapter under Portuguese leadership, Chukwueze’s future appears brighter than it did only a few weeks ago. If he can consistently deliver the creativity, pace and attacking threat that Amorim values so highly, the Super Eagles winger could become one of the key figures in the Rossoneri’s pursuit of success during the 2026–27 season.
