LONDON, ENGLAND — Arsenal have emerged as the frontrunners to sign Bayer Leverkusen forward Kofane in a deal that could reach £85 million, as manager Mikel Arteta continues to strengthen his squad following an already busy summer transfer window .

According to Football London, the Gunners’ transfer activity is far from over despite having already secured the signings of Bruno Guimaraes, Christos Tzolis, Piero Hincapie, and Illan Meslier. Arteta is understood to be targeting further additions before the window closes, with a new central defender and a winger high on the priority list .

Kofane, 20, made a notable impact in his debut Bundesliga season, contributing five goals and four assists, performances that have drawn interest from multiple European clubs . His agent, Eric Depolo, has suggested that a move to north London could be feasible, noting Arteta’s admiration for the player and pointing to potential cultural advantages such as Kofane’s Spanish language skills and teammate William Saliba’s Cameroonian background as possible factors in a transfer .

Depolo has reportedly set a valuation of £85 million for the young forward and confirmed that discussions between Arsenal and the player’s camp are underway, even going as far as to claim Kofane could become the club’s long-term focal point in attack .

However, Kofane himself has tempered these reports, clarifying that he has had no direct contact with Arsenal and was unaware of the reported price tag . Emphasising his focus on football, he stated that he does not get distracted by transfer speculation or media narratives, choosing instead to concentrate on his development and performances at Leverkusen .

Should Gabriel Jesus depart the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal may also seek another forward, with Arteta believed to be keen on adding more depth and quality to attacking options currently led by Viktor Gyokeres and Kai Havertz . The club have also been connected with Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez in recent speculation, though Kofane appears to be the primary target .
