Veteran Nollywood actor Jide Kosoko has revealed another challenge facing the family of Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, as they continue searching for appropriate medical care for the veteran actor.
According to Kosoko, more than 500 people have contacted the family and colleagues claiming they have treatments, medical connections, spiritual assistance or other solutions that could help Ogogo, who is reportedly battling stage-four cancer.
While the overwhelming response has been welcomed, Kosoko explained that it has also created a difficult situation for the family. Ogogo remains in hospital and requires medical attention, making it extremely difficult to move him from one location to another to explore every offer.
Kosoko expressed gratitude to everyone who has reached out since the actor’s health condition became public, saying the support from Nigerians and people around the world has been deeply appreciated.
He appealed to those offering assistance to understand that the family cannot physically take Ogogo to hundreds of different people or facilities.
The veteran actor also urged well-wishers not to interpret the situation as a rejection of their offers.
The search for help became widely known after Ogogo’s daughters, Lima and Kira Taiwo, appealed publicly for medical assistance for their father. They explained that the family was looking for qualified medical professionals or facilities capable of providing further care.
The family also clarified that their appeal was primarily for medical expertise and access to appropriate treatment rather than financial donations.
Since then, colleagues from the Yoruba film industry and other members of the entertainment community have rallied around Ogogo, offering prayers, encouragement and assistance.
Kosoko has now urged supporters to continue praying for the actor and to provide whatever legitimate assistance they can from their respective locations.
The situation highlights the difficult decisions families can face when a loved one’s serious illness attracts a large number of people offering different forms of treatment.
For now, the family remains focused on Ogogo’s care while carefully considering which medical options may be appropriate for his condition.
