Nigeria’s Edo Queens lose Champions League bronze to Egypt’s FC Maser

FC Masar of Egypt has secured a thrilling third-place victory over Nigeria’s Edo Queens FC in the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League.

The match played hours ago ended 0-0 after full time, with FC Masar emerging victorious in the penalty shootout, winning 4-3.

In a tightly contested match, both teams created scoring opportunities but failed to find the back of the net.

The stalemate persisted until the end of regular time, forcing the match into a penalty shootout.

FC Masar’s players held their nerves, converting four of their five penalty kicks to claim the third-place trophy.

Edo Queens FC, despite their valiant effort, fell short, missing two of their penalty kicks.

Although Edo Queens FC finished fourth, they took home a total of $450,000 in prize money, comprising $150,000 for participating in the tournament and $300,000 for their fourth-place finish.
