Laide Olabanji Blasts Leaders Over Hospitals, Backs Peter Obi

Nollywood actor Laide Olabanji has criticised Nigerian leaders over the state of healthcare in the country while expressing support for Peter Obi ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

In a caption on Instagram, Olabanji argued that ordinary Nigerians continue to struggle to access quality medical care while some political leaders, according to him, travel abroad whenever they require treatment.

“It’s difficult for your bad leaders to give you good hospitals in the country, they fly abroad for better treatment,” the actor wrote.

He also criticised what he described as misplaced government priorities, claiming that politicians are more interested in campaign activities than providing basic healthcare infrastructure for citizens.

“When you are suffering here, your wicked leaders prefer to buy campaign buses than give you ambulance, they don’t care about you,” he added.

Olabanji has previously spoken strongly about Nigeria’s healthcare system, arguing that the country should have hospitals capable of treating a wide range of illnesses without Nigerians having to travel abroad for medical attention. He has also challenged fellow entertainers who support politicians without speaking out about issues affecting citizens.

The actor has increasingly used his social-media platforms to express his views on governance and political leadership. In September, he urged Nigerians to look beyond ethnic considerations when choosing their leaders and specifically backed Obi.

In his latest post, Olabanji went further to endorse the former Anambra State governor, saying, “if Peter Obi become the president, he’ll make this country great again.”

His comments come as political conversations ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general election continue to intensify, with celebrities and public figures increasingly using social media to express their preferred candidates and views on the direction of the country.

Olabanji’s statements represent his personal political position, while his claims about government spending, healthcare and the actions of political leaders were not independently established in the post.
