LAGOS, NIGERIA — Fatai Okoya, son of billionaire industrialist Razaq Okoya, has publicly appealed for forgiveness. He is seeking to reconcile with his father after a 40-year separation.
Fatai made the appeal on Monday in Lagos. He said the rift was caused by a past money dispute and his marriage.
The 40-Year Rift
Fatai said he left his father’s house over 40 years ago. He said the separation was painful for him and his family.
He said he had tried to reach out to his father in the past. But he said the attempts were unsuccessful.
“I have missed my father. I have missed my family. I want to reconcile. I am asking for forgiveness,” Fatai said.
Reasons for the Rift
Fatai said the rift began over a money dispute. He said he also married against his father’s wishes.
He said he has since regretted his actions. He said he wants to make things right.
“I was young and stubborn. I made mistakes. I want to correct them. I want to be part of the family again,” he said.
Public Appeal
Fatai made the appeal publicly. He said he hoped his father would hear him.
He said he is not seeking money. He said he only wants to reconcile with his father.
“I am not after his money. I want to see him. I want to be his son again. I want him to forgive me,” Fatai said.
What This Means
The story highlights the importance of family reconciliation. It also shows that money can tear families apart.
Many Nigerians have expressed sympathy for Fatai. They urged his father to forgive him.
What Happens Next
It is unclear whether Razaq Okoya will respond to the appeal. The billionaire has not commented publicly.
For now, Fatai is waiting. He hopes his father will hear his plea and grant him forgiveness.
