The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has made the preliminary register of voters for the 2027 general election available online following concerns over public access to the document.

The commission announced the development in a statement dated October 26, 2026, signed by Mohammed Kudu Haruna, chairman of its Information and Voter Education Committee.

The move gives registered voters another opportunity to check their details, identify errors and raise concerns before INEC publishes the final register in December.

According to the commission, the preliminary register is available on its online portal at https://display.inecnigeria.org.

INEC had earlier displayed the preliminary register at registration areas across the country from October 9 to 15, in line with Section 19 of the Electoral Act, 2026.

However, following concerns about the need for online access, the commission decided to publish the same register digitally.

Haruna said the online platform contains the same preliminary register previously made available for physical inspection nationwide.

The additional access is intended to widen public participation in the verification process and give registered voters another opportunity to scrutinise their information ahead of the 2027 polls.

Voters can use the platform to check their particulars and identify possible errors that may require correction.

Claims and Objections Still Under Review

INEC said the process of reviewing claims and objections arising from the preliminary register exercise remains ongoing.

Haruna explained that the commission was processing submissions in accordance with the Electoral Act, 2026, ahead of the certification and publication of the final register.

“The Commission continues to process claims and objections arising from the exercise,” he said.

INEC has set December 15, 2026, as the deadline for publishing the final register of voters.

The accuracy of the register remains an important part of preparations for the 2027 general election, as errors in voters’ details could affect the verification process and public confidence in the polls.

The commission thanked Nigerians for their interest and participation in the voter registration process.

Haruna reiterated INEC’s commitment to transparency, accountability and the implementation of the Electoral Act, 2026, saying these principles were central to delivering credible elections.

Registered voters can inspect the preliminary register through INEC’s official online portal at https://display.inecnigeria.org.

With the December 15 deadline approaching, voters have an additional opportunity to review their details and raise any concerns before the final register is published.
