Russia’s Nuclear Ultimatum: A Warning to the World

Published

on

Russian President Vladimir Putin has reaffirmed his country’s stance on the use of nuclear weapons. Stating that Russia reserves the right to employ such arms in the event of aggression against the nation. This declaration has been reported to be made the Russian President during a recent Security Council meeting focused on nuclear deterrence.

According to Putin, Russia’s use of nuclear weapons would be justified in scenarios where the country’s sovereignty is threatened by conventional weapons. This stance is outlined in the newly updated foundations of Russia’s state policy on nuclear deterrence, which Putin has called for adapting to current realities.

Putin says West risks nuclear war

The Russian President emphasized that aggression against Russia by any non-nuclear state, but with the participation or support of a nuclear state, would be considered a joint attack on the country. Furthermore, Putin noted that Russia would consider using nuclear weapons upon receiving reliable information about the massive launch of aerospace attack weapons, including strategic or tactical aircraft, cruise missiles, drones, hypersonic, and other aircraft across Russia’s border.

Putin’s statements are in line with the recently signed Executive Order Approving the Basic Principles of State Policy of the Russian Federation on Nuclear Deterrence. This document outlines the main military dangers and threats to Russia, including the possession and deployment of nuclear and other types of weapons of mass destruction, missile defense systems, and high-precision non-nuclear and hypersonic weapons.

The updated policy also highlights the conditions under which Russia may transition to the use of nuclear weapons. These conditions include the receipt of reliable information on the launch of ballistic missiles attacking Russia, the use of nuclear or other types of weapons of mass destruction against Russia, and aggression against Russia using conventional weapons that creates a critical threat to its sovereignty.

In conclusion, Russia’s stance on the use of nuclear weapons remains unchanged, with Putin reaffirming the country’s right to employ such arms in the event of aggression.
