On Tuesday, January 14, 2025, the Anambra Joint Security Team achieved a major success in its ongoing fight against crime, neutralizing five suspected members of a unknown  group.

The operation, which took place in Ufuma, Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State, targeted a notorious criminal camp along Umugem Road.

Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathered information about the raid through eyewitness accounts and an official statement released by the Anambra State Police Command.

The joint task force, comprising police, military, and other security agencies, carried out the raid with precision.

SP Tochukwu Ikenga, spokesperson for the Anambra State Police Command, revealed that several gang members managed to escape, albeit with varying degrees of bullet wounds.

Efforts are underway to track down and apprehend the fleeing suspects.

During the operation, the security team destroyed the gang’s camp and recovered a cache of weapons and explosives.

Items recovered included four undetonated improvised explosive devices (IEDs), two AK-47 rifles, a pump-action shotgun, and a 75-volt battery.

SP Ikenga commended the high level of coordination among the security agencies, attributing the success of the operation to their collaborative efforts.

He reiterated the team’s commitment to maintaining law and order across Anambra State and vowed to continue operations aimed at eradicating criminal elements.

The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, praised the operation and appealed to residents for greater cooperation with law enforcement.
