COPDEM mourns Pa Ayo Adebanjo,  calls for justice, national unity

The Coalition for the Protection of Democracy (COPDEM) has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Pa Ayo Adebanjo.

According to a press release of Sunday 16th February 2025, by the COPDEM national media Committee, the late Afenifere leader died at the age of 96 after dedicating his life to justice, fairness, and democracy.

COPDEM described his death as a significant loss to Nigeria and a reminder of the urgent need for national unity.

The group stated that Pa Adebanjo’s unwavering commitment to truth and justice set a standard for future generations.

The 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, also mourned Pa Adebanjo and recalled their last conversation.

Obi said the late nationalist encouraged him to always stand on the path of justice, fairness, and national development.

He stated that Pa Adebanjo’s words left a lasting impression on him and shaped his approach to leadership.

Obi reaffirmed his commitment to upholding justice and equity in honour of the late leader’s legacy.
