DUFUHS expels two students, withdraws three over poor performance

David Umahi Federal University of Health Sciences (DUFUHS), Ebonyi State, has expelled two students for examination misconduct.

Diaspora digital media (DDM) gathered that the university management also withdrew three students due to poor academic performance.

Additionally, 11 students were suspended for committing various offenses.

The Vice-Chancellor of DUFUHS, Prof. Jesse Uneke, disclosed this information during the institution’s fourth matriculation ceremony.

The event took place in Uburu, Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

A total of 990 students participated in the matriculation exercise on Saturday.

Prof. Uneke emphasized that the university enforces strict discipline to maintain academic and moral excellence.

He noted that violations of the school’s rules attract severe consequences.

Between the last matriculation and the present, the Senate of the university took disciplinary action against 14 students.

The Vice-Chancellor explained that the punishment depended on the severity of each student’s offense.

Among them, two students were expelled for engaging in examination misconduct.

Three students were withdrawn from the university due to poor academic performance.

Three students received a one-year suspension for stealing.

Five students were suspended for one semester for committing theft.

DUFUHS maintains a zero-tolerance policy for academic dishonesty and unethical behavior.

Prof. Uneke also spoke about the university’s achievements in healthcare services.

He revealed that the DUFUHS cancer center has been fully operational.

As of December 2024, the center had treated 200 cancer patients from different parts of Nigeria.

In 2024, the university expanded its cancer services to include chemotherapy.

The official flag-off of the cancer center is scheduled for March 8, 2025.

The Vice-Chancellor reassured that the university remains committed to excellence.

He stated that students must abide by the rules to succeed academically.
