Another explosion has occurred at an oil pipeline manifold in Omwawriwa, a community in Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni Local Government Area.

Diaspora digital media (DDM) gathered that the incident took place on Tuesday evening, just hours after an explosion had hit the Trans Niger Pipeline in Bodo.

The Trans Niger Pipeline, operated by Shell, was reported to have gone up in flames, causing panic in the area.

The latest explosion occurred at a manifold connected to a federal pipeline deep inside the forest.

According to community sources, the affected pipeline transports crude oil to Brass, Bayelsa State, a major oil-producing area.

Eyewitnesses in Omwawriwa saw massive flames and thick smoke rising from the direction of the oil installation.

So far, there has been no official confirmation regarding the cause or extent of the damage.

The Rivers State Police Command has assured the public that investigations are ongoing to verify the incident.

The command’s spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko, promised to release further details once an official assessment is completed.

Rivers State is one of Nigeria’s major oil-producing regions and has witnessed several pipeline explosions over the years.
